Is your website fully secure with HTTPS? While your main domain might use https://, lingering internal http:// links can create "mixed content" issues, negatively impacting your SEO rankings and eroding user trust. Our latest feature tackles this head-on by automatically finding and fixing these insecure internal links within your page content.

When a secure HTTPS page loads resources (like links, images, or scripts) over an insecure HTTP connection, browsers often flag it as "mixed content." This causes several problems:

  1. SEO Penalties: Search engines like Google prioritize secure websites. Mixed content can hinder your site's ability to rank well, as it signals potential security vulnerabilities.
  2. Broken Padlock: Browsers may display warnings or show a broken padlock icon in the address bar, making visitors hesitant to trust your site, especially for e-commerce transactions.
  3. Security Risks: While internal links might seem less risky than external ones, loading any content over HTTP opens potential vulnerabilities for man-in-the-middle attacks.
  4. Inconsistent User Experience: Clicking an internal HTTP link can momentarily drop the user out of the secure HTTPS session, creating confusion and potential warnings.

How Our New Feature Helps

Manually finding and updating every internal link across potentially hundreds of pages is tedious and error-prone. Our "Check & Fix Internal HTTP Links" admin action simplifies this process:

  • Automatic Detection: Select the pages you want to check in the admin interface.
  • Intelligent Correction: The tool scans the suggested_html_body (if approved) or the main html_body for internal links pointing to http:// versions of your own domain (including www and non-www variations).
  • HTTPS Update: It automatically updates these links to use the secure https:// protocol.
  • Suggestion-Based: Changes are saved to the suggested_html_body, allowing you to review them before they go live (unless you sync directly).
  • Audit Trail: Every fix is logged in the page's audit history for full transparency.
  • Improved SEO: Ensure search engines see your site as fully secure, potentially boosting your rankings.
  • Enhanced Security: Eliminate mixed content warnings and associated security risks.
  • Increased User Trust: Maintain the secure padlock icon, reassuring visitors that your site is safe.
  • Consistent Experience: Keep users within the secure HTTPS environment throughout their journey on your site.
  • Time Savings: Automate a crucial but time-consuming maintenance task.
